Computers
In spanish class, we’ve been learning computer language. But none of us understood why the word computer could be used in feminine or masculine. Our teacher told us that recently, a group of computer scientists (all men) announced that the word ‘computer’ should be used in feminine (computadora). Their reasons for this were: 1. Nobody, except the Creator, understands their internal logic. 2. The native language they use to communicate between them is incomprehensible for any other being. 3. The message ‘error’ or ‘incorrect file’ is as informative as: ‘If you don’t know why I’m mad at you, then I’m not telling you’. 4. Your minor errors are kept in the long-term memory for future use. 5. When you add one in your life, you realise that you end up spending half of your salary in accesorizes for it (her). However, another group of computer scientists (all women) consider we should use the word in it’s masculine form (computador). These are their resons: 1. They have a lot of information, but they have no idea what it’s for. 2. Theoretically they help you solve problems, but half the time they are the problem. 3. When you add one in your life, you realize that if you would have waited a bit more, you could have found a way better one. 4. If you want them to listen to you, you have to turn them on. 5. Their energy consumption makes them useless for the rest of the night.
